Ranko Debevec has been elected as the President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina today at the session of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of BiH.

The President of the HJPC, Halil Lagumdžija, said earlier that Debevec had passed all the procedures and that the Sub-Council proposed his appointment as president, thus giving him another mandate.

Debevec, as the only candidate for that position, presented his work program and plans for the new term at the HJPC session today.

He emphasized that he will work on improving the justice sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina. First of all, to improve the quality and efficiency and responsibility of the work of the court, but also to improve the institutional development of the court.

“The court will engage in as many activities as possible related to strengthening the rule of law, the fight against corruption and organized crime,” said Debevec, Fena reports.
