Airports in BiH expect two million Passengers this Year

Four commercial airports in BiH are expecting a record year after airports in Banja Luka and Mostar secured larger number of flights.

Last year, 1,5 million passengers went through the airports in BiH, and that number is expected to be increased to two million this year.

“This year is crucial for the Airport Mostar, which is why I would like to invite citizens to use new flights to Germany and Zagreb in order for them to be maintained. The arrival of Eurowings and Croatia Airlines will improve connectivity of this airport and other airlines will take us into account as well,” said Marin Raspudic, the director of the Mostar Airport.

Ryanair will enter the market of BiH over Banja Luka by launching three new flights from that city in October. The largest European airline is planning to serve around 100,000 passengers on flights to Memmingen, Charleroi and Stockholm Skavsta during its first year of business operation. Moreover, Air Serbia will continue with its flights from Belgrade, and new charter flights to Antalya, which will take place until September 19, will further increase that number.

The International Airport Tuzla, which recorded a significant increase in the number of passengers during the last couple of years, secured new flights of Wizz Air this year. This low-cost airline launched flights from Vienna at the end of April, and the service for Baden Baden will start in less than a month.  Another goal of Airport Tuzla is to attract new airlines in the year of 2018 in an attempt not to completely rely on Wizz Air, which achieves almost the entire annual traffic.

Sarajevo Airport recorded strong increase in the number of passengers in the period from January to April by 15.5 % or 256.119. It is estimated that Sarajevo Airport will service more than a million passengers in the year of 2018, which will be the first time achievement in a year.

Numerous airlines that are currently flying to Sarajevo increased their frequencies this summer, while SAS Scandinavian Airlines launched new seasonal operations from Copenhagen.

Furthermore, the start-up Fly Bosnia, which is currently in the process of acquiring an Air Operator Certificate (AOC), is planning to launch flights to the capital city of BiH on June 10.
