Alternative Road at the Entrance to Sarajevo in Operation as of today

Alternative Road sa-c.netConstruction of the alternative road in the Sarajevo settlement Briješće is to be completed today. Therefore, the drivers who are driving towards Sarajevo from the direction of Rajlovac will be able to use the temporary road across the railway crossing in Briješće in order to avoid traffic jams.

“The contractor informed us that the alternative road will be finished tomorrow in the afternoon hours. Today they performed certain activities regarding the protection of gas installations and they also held a meeting with owners of the companies through whose yards the road will pass. There are no problems for now and we expect everything to be finished in accordance with the deadline,” confirmed yesterday the Mayor of Novi Grad Municipality Semir Efendić.

As a reminder, on Thursday the traffic from the direction of Rajlovac towards Stup has been completely redirected through the Safeta Zajke Street due to works on demolishing the bridge located before the roundabout which connects to the highway. Crowds were created and citizens were embittered because they thought that putting the Sarajevo bypass into operation and connecting Stup to the highway will significantly decrease jams.

Moreover, many drivers opted for the old road on that day, instead of entering the city via the mentioned bypass.

Meanwhile, the Novi Grad Municipality launched an action of constructing temporary alternative road which will be used until the completion of construction of the bridge in Briješće. This would be a gravel road for two-way traffic of small vehicles. Freight traffic will still have to take the bypass or other alternative routes.

It is possible to access the alternative road from the direction of Briješće at the intersection located 50 meters before the bridge. Access to the alternative road in Briješće from the direction of Stup is possible via the new roundabout, right next to the construction site.
