Ambassador Hellbach: Politicians Who Enter new Government to Have a Lot of Work Ahead

hellbachThe German-British initiative has in the meantime become the European initiative, and that was our goal from the beginning,” told FENA Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to BiH Christian Hellbach, speaking on the initiative on the new approach to European path of BiH, as proposed by the heads of British and German diplomacy, and adopted by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States of the European Union (EU).

“As for the details, they should be drafted by the European Union. The aim is, and everyone agreed, that the integration process of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the EU gets a new dynamic, not just for the reason that we think that BiH has its place in the EU. The EU integration is not by itself the purpose,” said Ambassador Hellbach.

He underlines that it is about to make this country a country that would provide security, freedom, prospects and jobs to its citizens.

He added that a lot is expected from the new government in BiH when it comes to this initiative.

“First of all, they have to show willingness to actually adopt reforms, to show the necessary willingness to compromise. We believe not only that BiH has its place in the EU but that in the light of the whole economic and social situation there is no more time to waste,” said Ambassador Hellbach.

He points out that now is the time and “the politicians who get to be part of the newly formed government will have a lot of work ahead.”
