Ambassador Sorensen to Present Compact for Growth and Jobs in Bosnia And Herzegovina

sorensen 1In late May, a Forum for Prosperity and Jobs brought together in Sarajevo representatives of government, business and workers, along with international and domestic economic experts and BiH citizens who have insights on running businesses and creating jobs. Participants in the Forum began to develop a Compact for Growth and Jobs reform package that could be presented to political leaders and civil society.

Input was collected and further refined in Banja Luka at a Seminar in mid-July that examined ways of implementing the Forum proposals in practice. Experts from neighbouring countries shared their experience with local participants and called on representatives of political parties to approve reform measures without further delay.

Following the successful completion of the consultations with numerous stakeholders, the Compact has been finalised.  The proposals in it are practical and realistic, and if they are endorsed by stakeholders they can make a positive and substantial difference to life in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The European Union Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, will present the Compact for Growth and Jobs in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday July 24th.

In advance of the presentation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, H.E. Federica Mogherini, also representing the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina H.E. Vjekoslav Bevanda will address the audience.
