eyofMayor of East Sarajevo Nenad Vukovic stated that preparations for the Youth Olympics 2019 are taking place in accordance with plans.

“The Organizing Committee has done many activities to successfully implement the preparations for the event. We in East Sarajevo and Sarajevo believe that the EYOF is our big chance to return to the scene of organizers of big competitions in winter sports and this is maybe even the first opportunity since the Olympic Games in 1984. On the other side, this is also a chance for us to promote tourism, especially winter tourism. This is a special chance for the construction of the infrastructure, which should be the legacy after these Olympics,” stated Vukovic.

He announced that the infrastructure budget of EYOF was adopted at the meeting of the Organizing Committee, which amounts to around 4.5 million BAM.

“We are satisfied with the number and quality of activities that took place in the previous period, as well as increasing cooperation between Sarajevo and East Sarajevo, to which probably contributed the appointment of young and promising mayors. We are especially increasing the interest of the public and some sports organizations by participation in the project of EYOF,” said Saric.

By the end of the year, the Organizing Committee will implement numerous activities, including the creation of the sponsorship packages and negotiations with potential sponsors, the adoption of the infrastructure part of the budget, adaptation of the field, preparation of test competitions and many other activities.

In November will follow the visit of the European Coordination Committee (COCOM), during which will be conducted an analysis of implemented activities that were agreed on the previous visit and adopted plans for 2018.
