What was the Amount of total Income of Banks in 2016?

Total income of banks achieved during the last year amounted to 969 million BAM, which represents an increase of 6 % or 52 million BAM when compared to 2015.

Net interest income amounted to 587 million BAM, with the growth of 3 % or 18 million BAM, and participation in the structure of total income by 61 %. Operating incomes, as the second component of total income, recorded an increase of 10 % or 34 million BAM, and they amounted to 382 million BAM, which represents a participation of 39 % in the structure of total income.

In the year of 2016, same as in 2015, there were no changes in the ownership structure: one bank in majority state ownership, and from 14 banks in majority private ownership, 4 are owned by domestic legal and natural persons and 10 of them are in foreign possession. The greatest participation still belongs to banking groups and banks from Austria (41.2 %), Italy (15.5 %), Turkey (13.5 %) and Russia (7.3 %). Other countries had an individual participation of less than 7 %.

In the report that is referring to microcredit organizations, 12 of them have a license for work in the FBiH. They are operating through 279 organizational units, and have a total of 1,251 employees, which is 51 more when compared to 2015. The balance sheet of microcredit organizations at the end of 2016 amounted to 440.1 million BAM, and it was increased by 16.8 million BAM or 4 % when compared to a year before. Micro-credit portfolio recorded an increased by 6 % (22.5 million BAM), and showed improvement of the quality indicators of the active credit portfolio.

The Government of FBiH discussed and adopted information regarding the situation in the banking sector of the FBiH, and among others and the abovementioned information, the state on December 31, 2016.

The Government of FBiH adopted a report on last year’s work of the Ombudsman for the banking system in the FBiH. A total of 363 complaints, requests and notifications were received in regard to individual disputes between users and providers of financial services that were related to the performance and operation of financial institutions and communication with customers. They completed their work on 321 cases, including 14 criminal cases that were started in 2015 and completed last year.
