The Emergency Center for emergency assistance to animals, the only one of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was opened in Sarajevo on Friday.
The emergency center is located in completely renovated premises within the Sarajevo Veterinary Station, and is equipped with the most modern equipment, which enables the establishment of emergency veterinary assistance for injured animals in the Sarajevo Canton area.
Director of the Cantonal Veterinary Station, Nasiha Spahić, said that within the project funds were invested for the complete reconstruction of the internal facilities.
“It has grown from an outpatient clinic to a clinic and an emergency center. Through the project, we acquired the most modern equipment that currently exists in veterinary medicine,” said Spahić.
She added that this is the first phase of the establishment of the emergency center itself and emergency care for animals. In the second phase, they will try to get a short phone number, and in the third, the acquisition of an ambulance vehicle is planned, which will go out to the field for owners who are unable to bring their animals to the center.
The opening of the Emergency Center was attended by the Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Government Nihad Uk, the Minister of Economy of the Sarajevo Canton Zlatko Mijatović, the administration of KJP Veterinarska stanica d.o.o. Sarajevo and other officials.
The Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uk, stated that such a center is necessary for Sarajevo and that it is the most modern such center and the only one in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“If we want to be a metropolis, we must have institutions like this. We are the only one in Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the few cities in the region that currently has an emergency center,” said Uk.
He promised that the Government of CS and the Ministry of Economy will provide support in the implementation of the second and third phases of the project.
“We will accompany this project through the second and third stages in order to complete the cycle of investments in this project, which in this case is 230,000 BAM. I look forward to entering the second and third stages as soon as possible, so that we have a complete picture. In this way, we are positioning the Canton of Sarajevo on the map of world metropolises that must have such institutions”, said Uk.
The center, which will operate within the cantonal public company Veterinarska stanica CS, is located at Nikole Šopa Street 41 in Stup.
