Analysis: The Price of Fuel in BiH

The Minister of Energy, Mining, and Industry, Nermin Dzindic, pointed out that the price of fuel in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is the lowest of all countries in the region, and that the price of gas will remain the same for at least until January 1st, 2023, and that electricity supply is stable.

“As for fuel prices, the government has already made a decision to limit profits on the sale of oil and oil products, and that decision proved to be perhaps the best in the region because we still have the best prices for oil and oil products,” told Djindjic.

He stressed the hope that the situation in the world will normalize and that this will affect the stabilization of prices in the energy sector.

Regarding gas, the minister says that Energoinvest signed the contract until the beginning of January, after which it will probably be extended as this contract was extended.

“When it comes to the formation of prices, this is the old formula. The change in the price of oil and petroleum products directly affects the formation of the price of gas. We do not expect drastic changes compared to the previous period,” notedMinister Dzindic.

The price of gas will be as it was stated in the contract untilJanuary 1st, 2023, and there will be no change, says Dzindic, and no one knows what the price will be after that.

Djindjic says that he visited European countries fifteen days ago and that prices are significantly more expensive than in the Federation of BiH (FBiH), and the FBiH together with the Republika Srpska (RS) entity has the best energy price of all countries in the region.

“Whether the Council of Ministers will take any step regarding excise duties is up to the Council of Ministers,” mentionedDzindic.

Regarding the price of electricity, until January 1st, 2023, there will be no change for either industry or citizens, but he says that all parameters are monitored and that there are regular reports to the parliament and the government.

“Both Elektroprivreda have a business problem related to the decision on the market supply model. You know very well that the Parliament, by correcting the law on electricity, Article 16A, limited the growth of energy prices according to the market supply model for large and medium economies. It was difficult for Elektroprivreda BiH, we intervened by activating blocks 4 and 5 in order to export more energy and compensate for that loss,” Dzindic explained the problems faced by Elektroprivreda in FBiH.

He stressed that there are sufficient quantities of electricity in BiH for all requirements on the BiH market and that the situation is stable, Klix.ba writes.
