The Prosecutor’s Office of the Canton of Sarajevo submitted a proposal to the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo to order a one-month detention for Anel Bećirović, the suspect in the murder of Emira Maslan’s partner in the Alipašino Polje settlement.

Detention was requested due to the risk of the suspect’s escape, the fear that he could repeat the crime, as well as the risk that his release could result in public disturbance. The hearing regarding the proposal of the Canton Sarajevo Prosecutor’s Office is being held today before the judge for preliminary proceedings of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo.

Bećirović did not speak during the hearing, and his lawyer Omar Mehmedbašić said that he had already pleaded guilty and that his client was in a bad mental state. The Prosecutor’s Office proposed a detention order of 30 days for the criminal offenses of “Murder” and “Procurement of weapons and ammunition”.

Bećirović was arrested on Monday evening in an apartment in Hrasno, where he barricaded himself together with a four-year-old child. On that occasion, he threatened to kill himself, and the police managed to overpower him and arrest him, and the child was handed over unharmed to the Center for Social Work of Canton Sarajevo, N1 writes.
