Armed groups advancing against the regime of Bashar al-Assad in war-torn Syria have begun to enter the southern suburbs of Damascus, the country’s capital.

Armed local groups have seized the center of the southwestern province of Quneitra and are advancing towards the center of Damascus.

These groups have already entered and are fighting against regime forces in the Damascus suburb of Darayya.

Syria has been the scene of a civil war since 2011, and the fighting has intensified again since late November when anti-regime groups took control of Aleppo. They then took control of all of Idlib, and then Hama.

Yesterday, opposition groups also took control of the province of Deraa on the border with Jordan. Today, local opposition groups took control of the southern province of Suwayda and Palmyra near Homs.

The opposition Syrian National Army carried out Operation “Dawn of Freedom” against the PKK/YPG terrorist group in the Tel Rifaat district, liberating the area from terrorist elements, AA writes.
