The Appellate Division of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued and forwarded a decision rejecting as unfounded the appeal of Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska, against the decision of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which determined the termination of Dodik’s mandate.

At its session on August 6, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a decision on the termination of the mandate of Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska, elected in the 2022 General Elections from the list of the political entity Alliance of Independent Social Democrats – SNSD – Milorad Dodik, after which Dodik’s defense filed an appeal.

Dodik was found guilty of committing the criminal offense of failure to implement the decisions of the High Representative, for which he was sentenced to one year in prison. He was also imposed a security measure of banning him from exercising the duties of President of Republika Srpska for a period of six years, from the date the verdict became final.

Deciding on the request of the defense of convicted Milorad Dodik to replace the imposed prison sentence with a fine, the Court of BiH, in accordance with legal regulations, issued a decision by which, after the statement of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, the aforementioned defense proposal was adopted, and the prison sentence imposed on convicted Milorad Dodik was replaced with a fine.
