While Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing negative natural growth, 23 babies were born in Mostar last weekend.

In the past three days from June 27 to 29, a total of 18 babies, 10 boys and eight girls, were born at the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic of the Mostar University Clinical Hospital.

During the same period, five babies, four boys and one girl, were born in the “Dr. Safet Mujić” Cantonal Hospital.

The past year was a record for the number of children born at the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics of the University Clinical Hospital Mostar.

Namely, 1,977 babies were born at the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic of this hospital in 2024, of which 1,017 were boys and 960 were girls. An interesting fact is that a baby boom took place in that year, when 34 babies were born in two days.

Previously, 2023 was the year that until then held the record for the number of babies born. 1,878 babies were born then.
