MITBahrudin Trbalić from Kladanj, a student at the International High School in Tuzla, has been  admitted to the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA. Established in 1861, MIT is the leading university in the field of physics and natural sciences.

Another fact that supports the claim that this is not the only, but probably Trbalić’s greatest success, is that he won the silver medal at the International Physics Olympiad held in Mumbai, India. This is the best result achieved in the Balkans and in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s participation at this competition. Since he was in the fifth grade at elementary school, Bahrudin has been actively participating at competitions in math and physics.

His success and endeavor were recognized by the federal Ministry of Education and Science. Trbalić received an award by the Ministry at a ceremony in Mostar where 94 FBIH elementary and high school students were rewarded 70.000 BAM in total.

Those students receiving awards competed in one of the following eight subjects: mathematics, physics, computer science, German language, English language, musical culture, technical culture and religious education.

Bahrudin won a silver medal in physics at the Olympiad in India, a silver medal at the international competition, Romanian Master of Physics, and he is the federal and national champion in physics. He said that the hardest part of the path towards these awards was the very departure to competitions abroad.

“We received some help from cantonal institutions, but the majority of finances needed for traveling were provided by private sponsors, whom we had to find ourselves. That is why it is very important for us to see that our successes have not been unnoticed and I would like to thank the federal Ministry of Education and Science for their support,” Trbalić added.
