B&H will be the host of the Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (BOI) for the first time. It will take place from 7-14 September and will be organized by the Association of Informatics of the Olympiads in B&H (IO).
Teams from B&H, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Greece, Cyprus, Macedonia, Moldavia, Romania, Serbia and Turkey will attend. Teams from Tadzhikistan, Croatia and Slovenia will participate as guests.
During the opening ceremony Prof. Dr. Yücel Ogurlu gave an opening speech and said that youth and computer science is our future, and that more has to be invested in such events.
The Chairman of the Executive Board of OI in B&H and the main organizer is dr. sci. Haris Gavranović. He wished the participants a warm welcome and thanked the institutions and organizations that helped implement this event. He also officially opened BOI2013.
The B&H Association of Informatics of the Olympiads (IO in B&H) is an educational and professional association founded in 2008, whose purpose is the promotion and development of knowledge in the field of computer science among students and teachers in primary and secondary schools, as well as among students in higher education institutions in B&H.
