[wzslider autoplay=”true”]Mostar is located on the Neretva River and is the fifth-largest city in the country. Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (mostari) who in the medieval times guarded the Stari Most (Old Bridge) over the Neretva. The Old Bridge, built by the Ottomans in the 16th century, is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most visited landmarks, and is considered an exemplary piece of Islamic architecture in the Balkans.

Ciril Ciro Raic, the author of photographs exhibited, was born in 1936 in the village Strgonice, in the Municipality of Konjic. He came in Mostar in 1952 and finished his photographic craft in 1955. He got a job as a photographer at the Institute for Protection of Cultural and Natural Monuments in Mostar, where he spent his entire active career. Ciril Ciro Raic received the title of Master of art of photography in 1975, when he was admitted as member of the Association of Applied Artists of BiH and Yugoslavia.

He achieved a total of 67 solo exhibitions and participated in hundreds of group and thematic exhibitions in the country and abroad, and won numerous awards and honors. Crown of his work was photo monograph in 1998. He died in 2011 and his sons Vladimir and Davor continued their father’s work, committed to preserve Ciro’s legacy and further document cultural and historic resources and natural beauty of Herzegovina.
