The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, spoke in Washington with Congressman Keith Self from Texas (Republican Party), the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe in the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives, about the current political and security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans region.
Bećirović specifically warned about the scandalous contracts that the leadership of the Bosnian entity of RS signed with certain lobbying houses, the Office of Chairman Bećirović announced.
He stated that it is particularly worrying that in this way lobbying for the unilateral destruction of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the disintegration of the internationally recognized state of Bosnia and Herzegovina was explicitly contracted, which represents an anti-Dayton and unconstitutional action directed against the peace and security of the entire region.
Bećirović thanked the United States for its continued support for Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly emphasizing the partnership and support for strengthening democracy, stability and Euro-Atlantic integration of the country.
He stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina remains firmly committed to NATO membership, and that US support is particularly important for preserving peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. He emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Euro-Atlantic path is an expression of its enduring commitment to democracy, the rule of law, the protection of human rights and stability.
During the conversation, the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH pointed out the importance of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) and the Constitutional Court of BiH, which was particularly confirmed during 2025.
He emphasized that the OHR and the Constitutional Court of BiH are key factors in protecting the constitutional order and implementing the Dayton Peace Agreement, and that any attempt to challenge them represents a direct blow to the stability, peace and legal order of the state. In this context, he also warned against destructive political moves that threaten the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Chairman of the Presidency of BiH said that Bosnia and Herzegovina offers significant economic opportunities for American companies, especially in the fields of energy and infrastructure, the Office of the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH announced.
