The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović participated in the commemoration in London as part of the National Day of Remembrance of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for Srebrenica at the Office of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development of Great Britain.

Bećirović addressed the dignitaries, including members of the UK Government and both houses of Parliament.

He expressed gratitude to the Government and Parliament of Great Britain for affirming the truth about the genocide committed against Bosniaks in Srebrenica. He sent special thanks to the chairman of the “Remembering Srebrenica” foundation, Waqar Azmi and friends from this foundation.

“Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina greatly appreciate the engagement of Great Britain, which in 2015 proposed to the United Nations Security Council (UN) the Resolution on Srebrenica. Unfortunately, the adoption of the text of the resolution was stopped by the Russian Federation. However, they did not stop us in the fight for justice. The resolution was passed in May this year was adopted by the UN General Assembly. Thank you to Great Britain and the numerous other countries that voted for this Resolution. The adoption of the Resolution on the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the Genocide in Srebrenica is a highly moral and civilizing act of the UN General Assembly,” said Becirovic.

He emphasized that Europe and the world must learn from Srebrenica and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Every evil that we don’t stop at the beginning becomes bigger and more dangerous later. Let’s stop the new evil in Bosnia and Herzegovina together. With the culture of memory, we fight for democracy and human rights. With memory, we fight for a safe future for new generations. Thank you Great Britain for preserving the truth about genocide in Srebrenica. Thank you Great Britain for all your help to Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are a country that remembers and appreciates its friends and allies,” concluded Bećirović.

And last year, he participated in the commemoration on the occasion of the National Day of Remembrance of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for Srebrenica, which was held at Lancaster House in London, AA writes.
