Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Denis Becirovic, held discussions with the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, at the United Nations (UN) headquarters. Poland, a NATO and European Union (EU) member, boasts one of the strongest armies in Europe.

The conversation focused on strengthening defense cooperation and deepening bilateral relations between the two countries. They also addressed the situation in the Western Balkans and the need to enhance Euro-Atlantic forces in this part of Europe.

Both parties agreed that relations between their countries are very good and friendly. It was pointed out that this represents the basis for further strengthening cooperation on the multilateral level, in accordance with mutually expressed interests.

Becirovic specifically thanked President Duda for Poland’s support of the Resolution on the Srebrenica Genocide.

He also reiterated BiH’s commitment to joining NATO and the EU. On that occasion, he thanked Poland for its support to BiH so far in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

President Andrzej Duda reaffirmed Poland’s unwavering support for BiH’s aspirations to become a full member of the EU and NATO.

Becirovic thanked Poland for its continued support for stability and peace in BiH, as well as the participation of Polish soldiers in the EUFOR-ALTHEA mission. He emphasized the need to accelerate BiH’s NATO accession process, which serves both BiH and NATO’s interests by ensuring long-term stability in the Western Balkans.

The two leaders also noted that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has highlighted the necessity for NATO to increase its presence in the Western Balkans to strengthen regional stability and security. They affirmed that the outcome of the war in Ukraine will significantly impact the future of a free and democratic Europe, expressing their full support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

“The strengthening of economic cooperation between the two countries was also discussed, and it was noted that it is necessary to invest additional efforts in improving foreign trade exchange,” Becirovic’s Cabinet announced.
