Begic: Dodik should be worried about Schmidt’s Silence, Americans know what they are doing

Zlatan Begic, Democratic Front (DF) representative in the Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH),  discussed the political, civil, and Dayton BiH in an interview.

To begin with, he said that it is very difficult for the current crisis to end without a stronger influence of the international community.

“It is not a cry or a call for someone to do our job here. Quite simply, it is the international community that has imposed constitutional solutions on us where a disabled state has been created is unable to defend itself against such attacks as we have in past few months.”

According to him, several entities are responsible for the mentioned crisis.

“There is Mr. Dodik, who is, quite clearly, a Russian player in the Balkans. We have a rather sluggish administration of Western countries, including the European Union (EU). I only have confidence in the United States (U.S.). Their well-intentioned policy towards BiH is indisputable, but it is obvious that they don’t have an action plan. It is not clear to me in what capacity and why Mr. Escobar came here. After yesterday’s meetings, it seems to me that he came to comfort the citizens of BiH that there will be no war, and not to calm down the politicians in BiH, in the first place Milorad Dodik. Dodik started all this, but we should not forget Dragan Covic, who simply fits into the whole story and Dodik is doing a big part of the task for Covic and his policy in BiH. The task of further fragmentation of this country. ”

Begic stressed that the rule of law in BiH is asked for, that the Dayton Peace Agreement is respected, that international peace and security are ensured, for which such an agreement was concluded.

Also, he mentioned that Dodik has very clearly shown Escobar, the entire international community, and all of us here that Escobar is not the master of war and peace in BiH, but that it is him.

Schmidt has no political but legal responsibility

“He is part of the Dayton Peace Agreement. If I were in Mr. Dodik’s position, I would be very worried about the silence coming from these centers of power. I refer to Schmidt and the U.S. in the first place. I believe BiH should have been copied into the EU a long time ago. ”
