BiH Ambassador to Qatar and former mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka (SDA party) should respond to the summons of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office at the beginning of next week.
Skaka was invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (MVP) to respond to the prosecutors in Sarajevo on May 22, 2023.
As Klix.ba learns, he sent a request to the MFA to leave the country where he is on a diplomatic mission (Qatar) a few days ago and announced that he will take annual leave in the coming period.
This SDA staff will, as Klix.ba learns, respond to the prosecutor’s call.
Skaka was summoned as a suspect and there is a possibility that detention or prohibition measures will be proposed to him, which could also mean the end of his ambassadorial career, as recently happened to BiH Ambassador to Malaysia Senaid Memić (SDA).
Based on the reports received over the past few years, the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office in Sarajevo has opened several cases against Skaka.
There are numerous scandals linked to his name and suspicions of rigged tenders during the organization of EYOF, the construction of public lighting to Skaka’s cottage in Trnovo, the DPO building, illegal employment, the construction of the Vidikovac facility on Trebević etc.
In the report submitted in April of last year by the mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, on the work of the previous city administration led by Abdulah Skaka, among other things, it is stated and explained the illegal employment in the positions of advisor to the mayor, Abdulah Skaka, which damaged the budget of the City of Sarajevo by tens of thousands of BAM.
The report also stated that Skaka brought a new Rulebook on the use of mobile telecom services in the City Administration of the City of Sarajevo, which allowed advisers to use mobile services at the expense of the City Administration.
The inspectors also touched on the dubious project “Public lighting in the Rajski Do settlement”. At that time, the media revealed the detail that the mayor, Abdullah Skaka, has a summer house in this place.
In the report, the project “Delivery of the Formula E demonstration vehicle” project, for which BAM 53,760.53 was spent, is also problematic. It was established that for all contracts in the field of international cooperation, the mayor must obtain the consent of the City Council, which was never done in this particular case.
There is also the project “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, where it was established that the 20,000 BAM that were spent were not planned in 2018, but the mayor of Skaka approved the payment of those funds to the company Republika d.o.o. Sarajevo.
The report also touched on the financial assistance to the BIMA association, the project “Education of young people about the importance of BiH Statehood Day”, the project “Establishing a mast and flag on Fortica Hill above Mostar” and others.
There is also the organization of the famous EYOF, i.e. suspicions of rigged tenders as well as large differences in the funds that were planned and which were ultimately spent.
One of the formed cases also refers to the assignment of the right to use the DPO building to the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in exchange for the building of the former SDK near the Eternal Flame.
We will remind you that the “Asim” affair, in which Asim Sarajlić was the main actor, also revealed how Abdulah Skaka became the mayor of Sarajevo.
The published video also talks about the way in which Abdullah Skaka was elected mayor of Sarajevo.
“We voted for Abdulah, we played. I came with Zdravka Stojnić as in Kum. Traca organized them there and for the vote Skaka became the mayor. Osmica (Osman Mehmedagić) visited Zdravka baba, promised some things and finished. One vote is enough ‘o for the mayor. Then we finished Meda (Almedin) Miladin in the second round and so on,” said Sarajlić in the video, which the court in Sarajevo did not consider relevant because, as it was said, “the video was not created in a legal way”, that is, there was no order of the court for recording and excluding the recording.
