Organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), a concert was held in Sarajevo on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and BiH.

At the concert performed by the Chinese Film Symphony Orchestra, attended by representatives of the legislative and executive institutions in BiH, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps in BiH, the ambassador of China to BiH, Li Fan, addressed the guests present, it was announced by the Association of BiH-Chinese Friendship.

As the ambassador stated in her speech, China and BiH are multiethnic countries with rich and diverse cultures, “but for music we do not need translation, because it transcends language, culture, and nation and comes straight to our hearts.”

Ambassador Li concluded that the melodies of this orchestra testify that in Sarajevo we feel Chinese emotions and that music from our countries will make us even closer to each other, and called for this concert to be a bridge of friendship between China and BiH, the beginning of new harmonious chapters between China and the rest of the world, and a beautiful memory of our common journey forward.

As the evening continued, those present had the opportunity to enjoy the musical program of the Chinese Film Symphony String Orchestra, under the baton of maestro Zhang Bingbing, who performed nine musical arrangements that formed the perfect blend of compositions by Chinese composers such as Liu Tianhua, Wang Yingquan, Zang Dongsheng, and Huang Haihuai.

Also performed were compositions from the musical opus of the Balkans, within which they played the melody from the film Walter Defends Sarajevo, as well as other folk songs from our region, and interpretations of musical works of other famous world composers such as Mozart and Vivaldi.
