Regarding media reports that have emerged about the crossing of the state border by the President of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) into the Republic of Serbia via the Raca International Border Crossing, we inform the public that there are no border barriers at the mentioned crossing, the BiH Border Police stated.

Additionally, all measures and actions are being taken to determine the circumstances and manner in which RS President Milorad Dodik crossed the border between BiH and the Republic of Serbia.

Regarding this event, the BiH Border Police will notify the BiH Prosecutor’s Office and cooperate with all law enforcement agencies.

“The BiH Border Police, as an administrative organization within the Ministry of Security of BiH, with operational independence, was established to carry out police duties related to the supervision and control of BiH border crossings and other tasks prescribed by law. It acts in accordance with its jurisdiction and will take all available measures to protect the state border and preserve the security of BiH,” the BiH Border Police stated.

Furthermore, the BiH Border Police monitors the situation at the state border and takes measures and actions in accordance with applicable legal regulations and its own plans. It continues to improve cooperation with other police agencies and authorities, as well as with neighboring countries, to prevent illegal border crossings and other forms of cross-border crime, such as human smuggling, counterterrorism efforts, human trafficking, drug smuggling, arms and explosives trafficking, document forgery, and similar activities. All of this is aimed at creating a secure environment for all citizens of BiH and the region, and advancing our progress toward meeting European standards and strengthening common European security, the BiH Border Police concluded.
