The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina accepted the Initiative of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury and appointed a delegation to conduct negotiations for the conclusion of the Loan Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the Air Quality Improvement Project in Bosnia and Herzegovina, worth 50 million US dollars, stated the Council of Ministers of BiH.

The goal of the Project is to reduce emissions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases in the heating sectors of residential buildings and traffic by improving air quality management and investments in four cantons in the Federation of BiH, namely Sarajevo, Tuzla, Zenica-Doboj and Herzegovina-Neretva, based on the expressed desire to participate in this project.

The announcement states that this project, among other things, refers to the strengthening of monitoring and management of air quality and support for the improvement of heating and energy efficiency in individual houses in a sustainable manner in all four cantons.

At the same time, one of the components of this project, which refers to green urban mobility to support the transition of the transport sector towards low emissions, will be implemented in Sarajevo Canton, as the largest urban area in BiH.

The project will first focus on the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
