BiH Court Lifts Detention Order Against Milorad Dodik

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a joint press release stating that on July 4, 2025, the suspect Milorad Dodik voluntarily appeared at the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, accompanied by a defense attorney, for questioning as a suspect in connection with the investigation due to the existence of reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of Attack on the Constitutional Order under Article 156, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On the same day, acting upon the proposal of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he was brought before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a hearing was held at which the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a decision accepting the proposal of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and terminating the custody of the suspect Milorad Dodik, given that it was determined that the reasons for which he was previously ordered no longer exist, and at the same time the following prohibitive measures were imposed – a measure of mandatory periodic reporting to a state authority.

Prohibitive measures imposed pursuant to this decision may last as long as there is a need for them or until a different decision of the Court.

The control of the validity of the duration of the imposed prohibition measures will be carried out at the end of every two months. The suspect was specially warned that he could be detained if he violates the obligations of certain prohibition measures.

The justification for the duration of the imposed prohibitive measures will be reviewed every two months. The suspect was specifically warned that he could be ordered to be detained if he violates the obligations under certain prohibitive measures, the statement said.

Dodik told RTRS that he believes his hearing at the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH is “an important matter not only for him, but also for all those malicious people who wanted destabilization and to create additional problems in BiH through this case”.

He said that the new reality is that he is no longer banned from traveling abroad and moving around BiH.

“I agreed to come to the Court of BiH voluntarily and after an hour and a half I received a decision to lift the detention and the search warrant in BiH and abroad. This is a case that will continue,” Dodik said.

He stated that he must report to the police in Laktaši every 15 days.

“I do not feel triumphant, but tired of everything,” Dodik emphasized.
