BiH Defense Minister met with Deputy Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo

The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, received the Deputy Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, Brigadier Bahri Yildiz. Minister Helez thanked Brigadier Yildiz for his visit, as well as NATO Headquarters Sarajevo for everything they do for the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The presence of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo provides security to BiH and its citizens. Also, support means a lot to us when it comes to the development of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We have two strategic goals when it comes to our country, namely membership in the EU and the NATO alliance,” said Helez.

Minister Helez and Brigadier Yildiz also talked about the activities that were realized during the last year, as well as those that are being implemented. The minister informed the deputy commander of the NATO Headquarters Sarajevo about the tasks that our country needs to fulfill as a negotiator on the way to the EU, the adoption of the budget and increase, new uniforms, the Plan for the Modernization of the Armed Forces of BiH 2017 – 2027, the acquisition of radars and numerous other topics – it was announced from the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Brigadier Yildiz thanked for the important information he received from the Minister of Defense of BiH, saying that progress in the MoD and Armed Forces of BiH is visible.

“It is noticeable that you have done a lot when it comes to the reception of new candidates in the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and modernization. Membership in NATO and the EU is a mechanism that can improve the future of BiH,” concluded Yildiz, stressing that NATO supports that path and will not allow security problems in BiH.

The deputy commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo praised the engagement of the members and helicopters of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in putting out fires in our country, saying that their quick reaction showed that they are ready and able to respond to the most difficult demands – the press release states.
