The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milanko Kajganić, participated in the Eurojust conference on strengthening judicial cooperation in the countries of the Western Balkans.

The conference was held in The Hague (Netherlands) and it focused on the strengthening of judicial cooperation in the fight against organized crime and terrorism.

As part of the project, the Eurojust agency will offer important tools and instruments for EU cross-border judicial cooperation, such as knowledge and means for establishing joint investigation teams, to prosecutors and judges throughout the countries of the Western Balkans – announced the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

As part of the activity, joint cases will be identified, the resolution of which would be facilitated by improved coordination. To resolve those selected cases, Eurojust will provide support and expert advice to enable coordinated concurrent investigations/prosecutions and the establishment of Joint Investigation Teams (JITs).

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is interested in strengthening regional and international cooperation because it acts in a large number of cases in which inter-institutional cooperation is realized with partner institutions of neighboring countries and the Western Balkans.

The conference was attended by delegations from the countries of the Western Balkans, partners, representatives of the General Directorate for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, the General Directorate for Justice and Consumer Protection, and representatives of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, it is stated in the statement.
