Yesterday, 2.490 pieces of collected and confiscated rifles, pistols, and parts of weapons as well as related equipment were destroyed in the Zeljezara Ilijas.
The destruction action was organized by the Coordination Board for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in cooperation with the European Union (EU) in BiH, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in BiH and the South Eastern and Eastern Europe Clearinghouse for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SEESAC).
This action aims to draw attention to the dangers that excess weapons, as well as poorly secured and illegally owned weapons, pose to the everyday safety and security of all citizens.
In Southeast Europe, the problem of the circulation and proliferation of small arms and light weapons has no limits and as such requires a joint response at the regional level.
Since 2016, 25.000 pieces and parts of weapons have been found and destroyed in BiH.
