BiH FM: The Story about me and a Drug Cartel does not exist, I was a Target of the Prosecutor’s Office

“For many years, I have been warning about what I have to endure because of my freedom of speech. The Prosecutor’s Office has not contacted me about what was written in the Sky correspondence of some cartel members. I explained how my name came up, and I am very willing for everything to be reviewed and investigated,” said Elmedin Konakovic, the Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), in an interview yesterday.

“For a long time, they have been trying, as Dalida Burzic said in 2018, that theory of ‘find something against him’ has been alive for many years, and this is not the first time I have reacted to injustices. It is my duty to address certain anomalies. For many years, I have had public confrontations with people from the judiciary. In all cases, I have been on the right side.”

“The story about me and a drug cartel does not exist!”

Furthermore, Konakovic stated that there is no connection between him and the drug cartel.

“The story about me and the drug cartel does not exist, but it does exist for some others who are not talked about. We live in a time of presumed guilt. I address problems and injustices instinctively. I have two options: to react or to turn a blind eye; I never turn a blind eye. I react to injustice when I see it. This causes turbulence and pressure.”

“No one talks about the arguments of the accused people. I was a target of the Prosecutor’s Office, I was a target in the process. I have explained these days, I do not know the details of the investigation as some do, but in the public process, a young man from the Special Police stood up in court and said he was offered to claim that Campara and I were behind everything and to go home or else end up where he ended up. What would you do? I do not keep silent for others, let alone for myself. I will defend all the people I believe are unjustly accused. It’s like a reflex when you see someone drowning; either you jump in and defend them or you run away,” he stated.

“For Those Who Do Not Support the Resolution…”

Konakovic emphasized that there will be reactions toward countries that do not support the adoption of the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica.

“We will certainly react to some. Today we reacted to what Hungary announced, Szijjarto and I had a project initiated, but we cannot send our youth for education to those who deny genocide. Diplomatic and economic ties cannot be severed; other conditions are needed for that, as these are European Union (EU) member countries. We do not sever diplomatic relations, but we send a message that we are very dissatisfied and criticize their positions. I was surprised by what Varhelyi commented in Belgrade, it seems to me he repeated Vucic’s views on the resolution. Today we wrote him a sharp letter, maybe a bit undiplomatic, but these are red lines that we said no one crosses and those who vote against the Resolution will get the stance they deserve from us,” Konakovic explained yesterday.

“The SNSD got tangled and entangled, I repeatedly warned Dodik and Cvijanovic not to play with fire. They took themselves into isolation, now they want to take the whole Republika Srpska (RS) there. I think this playing with fire is billed and paid back to them. He has to figure out a way to get out of it himself., N1 writes.
