The organizers of the central event commemorating the victims of Srebrenica in the German city of Stuttgart created a petition to allow them to use the General Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina in this city.
As they announced, until now they could use these rooms every year, but this year they were denied it by the new consul general, Vera Sajić.
This is why a petition has been launched, which contains two requests:
“The premises of the General Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Stuttgart must be available to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina whenever a gathering or manifestation related to our homeland is organized, and especially when it comes to a memorial event such as the central manifestation in memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide, in this case on July 21, 2024 . from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to give the premises of GK BIH Stuttgart to the organizers of meetings related to the homeland,” the organizers announced.
They stated that the event in memory of Srebrenica in Stuttgart has been celebrated since 2015 and that thousands of people visit it every year. As they say, it is organized with the help of the city of Stuttgart, religious communities and Bosnian-Herzegovinian associations from the entire German province of Baden-Württemberg.
“Until last year 2023, the consulate was available on the day of the event to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who participated on that day. From the very beginning, the organizers had the support of former consuls general Dragić, Mišković and Muhić. This year, unfortunately, the new consul general Vera Sajić it has no intention of giving the premises of GK BIH Stuttgart to the organizers and citizens. In addition, it did not allow the organizers to hold working meetings in the premises of GK Stuttgart”, it was announced, Klix.ba reports.
The organizers sent three emails to Consul Sajić since March with a request to use the consulate premises and an invitation to join the work meetings. The rejection came only after the organizers contacted the BiH ambassador to Germany, Damir Arnaut.
“The duty of us organizers is to inform BiH citizens in Baden-Württemberg and around the world about the events and anti-Bosnian decisions of Consul General Sajić, who unfortunately did not even explain her decision. Therefore, we organizers decided to raise our voice with this petition to Ms. Sajić and the competent authorities let it be known that we, as citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, do not agree with this decision,” it was announced.
