BiH Foreign Minister requested Serbia’s official Position regarding the Glorification of War Crimes

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Elmedin Konakovic, in a letter addressed to the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, strongly condemned the events caused by the glorification of war crimes and the war criminal, General of the Army of the Republika Srpska (RS) Ratko Mladic, convicted of genocide in Srebrenica, which is done in the posts of two female students from BiH on social networks.

Their posts were deemed unacceptable by Konakovic.

“I am surprised that instead of condemning this kind of behavior, I learned from the media that as a reward, not for their special engagement in the academic sense and good results, but for the glorification of war crimes, the Republic of Serbia decided to give them a scholarship to continue their education in Belgrade,” Konakovic explained in the letter.

He emphasized that BiH is undoubtedly committed to developing good-neighborly relations and improving regional cooperation, and reminded that on the occasion of the recent multiple murder in the elementary school “Vladislav Ribnikar” in Belgrade, the Council of Ministers of BiH expressed deep sympathy and declared a day of mourning throughout BiH.

“I expect an approach of respect for the victims and compassion for the families of those killed in the genocide in Srebrenica, and not an approach in which the institutions of the Republic of Serbia provide shelter and reward those who glorify war crimes and criminals,” stressed Konakovic.

In the letter, he requested the official position of the Republic of Serbia regarding, as he stated, the announcement that Serbian institutions are ready to fund the glorification of war crimes.
