BiH Has a Significant Role in Promoting Intercultural Dialogue in Europe

BiH, as a meeting place of different religions and traditions, has the potential to play an important role in promoting intercultural and interreligious dialogue in Europe, said the High Representative to BiH Valentin Inzko.

He had short meetings with the General Secretary of the UN Ban Ki-Moon, the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other high-ranking political officials in the framework of the Fifth Global Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations of the UN.

“For centuries, BiH was the place where cultures intersect, and it was known for its religious pluralism and tolerance’’, added Inzko.

The High Representative held a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn.

Inzko informed his colleagues that the forthcoming Croatian accession to the EU represents a challenge, and a chance for BiH to make progress in the process of Euro Atlantic integration.

“In order for BiH to make tangible progress, political leaders have to find a compromise and to focus on economic priorities and the rule of law. Subversive initiatives have to finally stop. They only distract attention from other more important questions, such as the creation of new jobs’’, said the High Representative.
