The Federal Phytosanitary Inspection has banned the import of 23,100 kilograms of commercial potatoes from Poland at the Domaljevac-Šamac border crossing because it does not meet the phytosanitary requirements, the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs announced.

During the regular inspection, it was determined that the shipment of mercantile potatoes is not accompanied by a correct and valid phytosanitary certificate, that is, it does not have the prescribed supplementary declarations, which is why the shipment does not meet the prescribed phytosanitary conditions for import.

At the same border crossing, the import of four wooden pallets for transporting parts for the auto industry from France was also prohibited, because it was determined that the shipment of wooden material did not meet the prescribed phytosanitary conditions, that is, it was not treated and marked in accordance with the applicable legal regulations.

It is prescribed that the wooden packaging material produced from oak wood must be subjected to treatment, i.e. to the prescribed temperature for a certain minimum period of time in order to destroy harmful organisms.

It was ordered that both the potatoes and the pallets be returned to the sender, that is, they be destroyed in the prescribed manner, in case the return is not possible.
