The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nenad Nešić, is on an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, where he met today with the Egyptian Minister of the Interior, Mahmoud Tawfik.

Bearing in mind the positive relations between the peoples of the two countries, the expectation was expressed that this meeting opens a chapter of more intensive and dynamic diplomatic, security and economic cooperation.

Minister Nešić emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina wants to continue and develop good relations with friendly Egypt. Bearing in mind the close ties and history of our peoples, BiH can be a key factor for Egypt’s cooperation with all countries in the Balkan region.

“On both sides, there are real foundations and economic capacities for the development of economic relations. The work we do, the work of security, is the foundation for economic and any other development of society, and I am sure that with today’s meeting we are sending a positive impulse to the economies of the two countries to work at the highest level contacts in the economic sphere are intensifying,” Nešić said, telling Egyptian businessmen and investors that they and their capital are safe and that they are welcome for trade and investment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Nešić gave full support to Egypt in the fight against terrorism, with the expectation of additional progress in this area because it has a favorable effect on the security situation in the region, Europe, and therefore BiH.

He also expressed his gratitude to Egypt for assisting in the evacuation of BiH citizens from the Gaza Strip.

“I hope that we will soon witness a calming of tensions and an end to suffering. Egypt is a country whose voice should be heard more strongly when it comes to this topic, bearing in mind the relations with Israel and at the same time not diminishing the rights of the Palestinian people,” said Nešić, positively affirming the position of Egypt regarding the conflict in Ukraine while insisting on peace and not contributing to the deepening of global hostilities.

In the field of security and internal affairs, the need to amend and improve the existing agreement on cooperation in the field of crime suppression and the establishment of cooperation between the agencies of BiH and Egypt for law enforcement in the field of financial crime detection, money laundering and the exchange of information on terrorist and extremist threats was highlighted.

Nešić also reminded of BiH’s initiative to sign the Agreement on Readmission of Citizens and Foreigners, and opened up the possibility of establishing cooperation in the field of protection and rescue, Klix.ba reports.
