The mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, has been assigned increased police protection, after threats she received from Amir Gross Kabiri, an Israeli businessman. Let us remind you that Karić filed a criminal complaint with the Federal Police Administration after constant and almost daily harassment by the president of the Abraham group. Kabiri has not yet been heard, but continues to write on social media.
According to Mayor Benjamina Karić, the problems with Amir Gross Kabiri started a few months ago. According to the mayor, she became a target when she did not allow the plaque on the City Hall to be covered for the purpose of celebrating the State of Israel Day.
The attacks intensified, explains Karić, the moment she publicly condemned the killing of innocent civilians in Palestine and the killing of innocent civilians in Israel.
“Since that day, Amir Gross Kabiri, both publicly and secretly, sends photos of murdered children to my social network inbox, accuses me of supporting Hamas, condemns my condemnation of the killing of innocents in Gaza. With his posts, he motivates and invites his supporters to do the same as him. “I had no intention of reacting the way I did, but after the increasingly frequent messages from Kabiri, I felt threatened, scared, especially for my three-year-old child, and so I filed a complaint,” explained Karić.
On the other hand, Amir Gross Kabiri announced on his account on the social network X: “In an attempt to prevent me from expressing my opinion, Benjamina Karić is using her political position to imprison me. It won’t work”.
During that time, the Federal Police Administration requested increased protection measures for Mayor Karić. Minister of the Interior, Ramo Isak, announces that Kabiri will be interrogated for the aforementioned threats.
“It is normal that the person will be questioned about the circumstances. A report will be submitted to the prosecutor’s office against the person. The prosecution determines the further course of the investigation. This means that the prosecutor is the one who will manage the entire investigation,” Isak said.
Support for the mayor came from the Jewish Municipality of Sarajevo, they distance themselves from the activities of Kabiri. There was no lack of political support either. Words of support were sent by Federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, Vice President of the Federation Refik Lendo, State Minister for Human Rights and Refugees Sevlid Hurtić, numerous party colleagues, the Association of BiH Generals and others.
