Denis Bećirović, member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, received today the Working Group for the Western Balkans Region (COWEB) within the Council of the European Union.

The Working Group for the Western Balkans region is responsible for EU relations with the region and deals with general political and economic development and the Stabilization and Association Process (SAP) with the EU.

The working group is composed of representatives of all 27 EU member states, and today’s working group, at the meeting with the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bećirović, was chaired by Antoni Adamovic from the European External Action Service (EEAS).

Today’s meeting was an opportunity to exchange opinions and views on the situation and opportunities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but in general in the European Union and Europe, announced the BiH Presidency.

Bećirović informed the members of the delegation about the very clear strategic foreign policy goals of Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely full membership in the EU and NATO and good regional cooperation. And all these strategic goals were adopted unanimously in the state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, noted Bećirović.

He informed the interlocutors that he proposed and referred to the procedure several questions that directly concern the EU integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and one of those questions is Bećirović’s proposal that the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopt an Action Plan for fulfilling 14 priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission, as and the Document on the development of the state program for the integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the European Union, because he believes that the members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina have a symbolic power because they are directly elected by citizens throughout the country.

The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bećirović, noted to the delegation of all 27 EU member states that they are coming to this meeting only one day after a historic day for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also for Europe and the world, because the legal successor of the ICTY in The Hague, the MRMKS, ended the last case after 30 years of activity, making a judgment based on the facts in the case Prosecutor v. Stanišić and Simatović.

The interlocutors agreed that the decisions made by the NSRS on April 26 of this year are neither democratic nor in the European spirit. The members of the delegation were particularly interested in the views of the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bećirović on the secessionist statements of the president of Bosnia and Herzegovina. entity, as well as on changes to laws in the domain of criminal law, the impeachment of judges of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina from among the Serbian people, and the law on non-governmental organizations in that entity.
