Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met today in Istanbul with members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The members of the BiH Presidency once again expressed their deep regret for the loss of lives and property due to the devastating earthquakes that hit Turkey and expressed solidarity with the citizens and authorities of this country.

The President of the Republic of Turkey thanked the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the support and selfless help provided in these difficult times for Turkey.

During the meeting where the current situation in BiH, the region and the world was discussed, the members of the Presidency of BiH informed the President of the Republic of Turkey about the activities and tasks facing the institutions at all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Special attention was focused on strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries in the context of the intensification of trade exchange and the realization of previous ones, as well as the possibilities of starting new investment projects.

The officials expressed satisfaction with the dynamics and development of relations with Turkey, with which Bosnia and Herzegovina has the most concluded and ratified agreements. They also pointed out the need to continue good economic cooperation by connecting the business communities of the two countries, the Press Service of the BiH Presidency stated.

Erdogan held a closed-door meeting with BiH Presidency members Željka Cvijanović, Denis Bećirović and Željko Komšić in Villa Vahdettin, the Directorate for Communications at the Office of the President of Turkey announced.

No further information was released about the meeting, which was held several weeks after two powerful earthquakes struck southern Turkey on February 6, killing more than 43,550 people.

Immediately after the devastating earthquakes, many countries of the world sent search and rescue teams, as well as humanitarian aid to the victims, to Turkey, among them Bosnia and Herzegovina.
