Revenues from indirect taxes in the first five months of 2023 amounted to 4 billion and 90 million BAM and are higher by 257 million BAM or 6.71% compared to the same period in 2022 when they amounted to 3 billion and 833 million BAM.

First, for indirect taxation, Bosnia and Herzegovina returned 929 million BAM to the economy in the first five months of 2023, which is 111 million BAM more than in the same period last year.

The net collected revenues that were distributed to users in the first five months of 2023, namely the state, entities and the Brčko District, amounted to 3 billion and 160 million BAM and are higher by 146 million BAM compared to the revenues from the Single accounts received by users for the same period in 2022.

In May 2023, 885 million BAM indirect taxes were collected, which is 58 million BAM more than in May 2022.

An amount of 416.9 million BAM has been allocated for the financing of state institutions in the first five months of 2023. The largest part of the income from indirect taxes, as well as all the collected excess income, ended up with the entities and Brčko District. Thus, in five months of 2023, 1 billion and 620 million BAM were allocated to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 870 million BAM to the Republic of Srpska and 91 million BAM to the Brčko District.

In the table below, we present the total allocated funds to the entities and the District of Brčko BiH with the associated external debt for the first five months of 2023 compared to the same period last year. Although the ITA collected more funds from indirect taxes in 2023, the entities received less income in the final distribution due to the fact that the external debt of the entities is significantly higher in this year compared to 2022. Amounts for repayment of external debt are deducted before distribution of income to beneficiaries. All amounts are expressed in millions of BAM.

In addition to the distributed revenues in the table above, based on the special toll for the construction of highways and the construction and reconstruction of other roads (0.25 BAM), the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina received an additional 81.6 million BAM, the Republika Srpska 53.9 million BAM and the Brčko District 2 .7 million BAM. The difference represents a reserve in a separate account for tolls in the amount of 0.25 BAM.
