The Service for Foreigners’ Affairs carried out the procedure of forcible removal of a Bangladeshi citizen who was staying illegally in Bosnia and Herzegovina, thus starting the process of forcible removal to Bangladesh as well.

The activity was realized after the successful cooperation with the authorities of Bangladesh, which related to the procedures for establishing identity and issuing travel documents. The cooperation was intensified during the visit of representatives of the competent authorities of Bangladesh to the Service in February this year.

Forced removal was carried out from the Sarajevo International Airport. The security officers and the escort of the Service will accompany the person in question to Bangladesh, where he will be handed over to the competent authorities. Before removal, the person in question was placed under surveillance at the Immigration Center of the Service.

Forced removal was carried out in accordance with EU standards and procedures, given that the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs in the earlier period, strengthening its capacities, organized training for security and escort officers in the field of enforcement of forced removal, both with the support of FRONTEX, as well as with the support of the Joint Coordination Platform (JCP), which will continue in the coming period.

Bearing in mind that efficient management of migration is an important prerequisite for the continuation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European path, the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs will in the coming period focus its activities on return and readmission processes as an important element of comprehensive immigration policy, the Service announced.
