BiH Statehood Day was also celebrated in Bobovac, a medieval royal town. The organizers were the Mountaineering Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the municipalities of Vareš, Kakanj and Breza.
Today, Bobovac was a gathering place for citizens from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“If everyone in the country knew and only wanted to respect historical facts, everything would be different,” said Mayor of Varese Zdravko Marošević (HDS).
“We talk about what happened at that time and what it meant, and then we move to this time in which we live and then show, after the victory of the basketball player, how much fighting means to us and that we constantly talk about patriotism”, said the head of Kakanj Mirnes Bajtarević.
From the fortress of medieval Bosnia, it was announced that Bosnia and Herzegovina was not created in 1943, but that its borders were confirmed and statehood restored.
“Those borders were much earlier, we have the period of medieval Bosnia, the periods of our bans, Bosnian bans, our Bosab kingdom. “During the time of Tvrtko I, Bosnia was the most powerful state in the Balkans. We really have something to be proud of, especially from that earlier period,” said Dr. Zilha Mastalić-Košuta, Doctor of Historical Sciences at the Institute for Crime Research, UNSA.
Support for the celebration of Statehood Day BiH was given by Preporod Vareš, the Cultural and Artistic Society from Breza, the choir from Kakanj, the musical ensemble “Moja prva nota” from Vareš, and the honorary platoon of the Armed Forces of BiH and the Mountaineering Association.
