BiH takes 75 Million US Dollars Loan for the Development od Health System

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a session at which, among other things, it accepted the Initiative of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury and appointed a delegation to negotiate a loan agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the Health Systems Improvement Project worth 75 million US Dollars.

It was emphasized that the BiH delegation should emphasize during the negotiations for concluding this agreement the need to reduce the planned excessive costs of project management and monitoring in the amount of about five million US dollars, because those funds could be directed to the development of health institutions in BiH.

The project aims to improve the quality of health services, as well as the financial condition of health systems in BiH, with more effective management, as a key common theme. The funds will, among other things, be aimed at improving the efficiency and quality of health care for the benefit of BiH citizens.

It is a very favorable loan with a repayment period of up to 35 years, with an allocation to the Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH entities and the exact amounts will be agreed during the negotiations.

After the negotiations, the Ministry of Finance and Treasury will submit the Proposal of the Agreement to the Council of Ministers of BiH for consideration.
