The women’s basketball team of Bosnia and Herzegovina was defeated on Saturday evening, in the 5th round of the EuroBasket 2027 qualifiers, at the City Arena “Husejin Smajlović” in Zenica, by the Republic of Ireland with a score of 78:81 (17:17, 30:24, 19:18 and 12:22).

The “Zmajice” were close to their first triumph in these qualifiers, but also their first triumph after 20 games and more than four years without a win, but extended their winless streak to 21 games.

This left them in last place in Group A, and the Irish women won the first match, on November 15th of last year, at home with a convincing 94:67.

The most efficient players in the BiH team were Kamiah Smalls with 27 and Dragana Domuzin with 17 points.

Israel maintained a 100 percent performance with tonight’s convincing away win against Luxembourg with 76:52 and secured first place in the group.

BiH will host Luxembourg on Tuesday, March 17, in Zenica, and the match starts at 8 p.m.

Group A table: Israel 5-0, Luxembourg 3-2, Ireland 2-3 and BiH 0-5, Fena writes.
