The Majlis of the Islamic Community of Bihac has presented an infrastructure project which, if implemented according to plan, will significantly enhance the tourism, religious, and economic potential of the city of Bihac. It concerns the construction of a multifunctional tourist-business-residential complex at the attractive location of Ribica Otoci, along the Una River, worth more than 100 million euros.

After a series of meetings between representatives of the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Bihac and the interested investor, a reception was held at the premises of the Bihac Muftiate, attended by the director of the Development Agency of the Una-Sana Canton (USC) and the president of the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Bihac.

“During the meeting, the conceptual design of the project was presented, opinions were exchanged, and conclusions were made regarding the next steps necessary for the start of implementation,” stated the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Bihac.

The project received official support from the Bihac Muftiate, along with the expressed hope that with the engagement of actors at the local, cantonal, and federal levels, the basic conditions for its implementation will be created.

The planned conceptual design includes the construction of a new access bridge over the Una River, complete utility infrastructure, an Islamic center with a mosque, a five-star luxury hotel, 18 business-residential buildings, as well as a promenade around the entire island as a new tourist attraction.

“Most of the facilities, including the access bridge, will remain in the permanent ownership of the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Bihac as a permanent waqf, giving the project an additional religious and cultural dimension,” said the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Bihac.

The estimated timeframe for the completion of the works is five years, and the investors and project holders expect full cooperation from all relevant levels of government so that this project can be successfully realized.

“Such investments not only strengthen the infrastructure and economic potential of our canton but also represent a strong impetus for tourism development in the Krajina region. We are convinced that this project will open the door to new investments and be an example of how religious and economic interests can be connected for the benefit of the broader social community,” stated the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Bihac.
