12939141_1145869092130712_267945271_nConcentration camp Batković was established in April 1, 1991. According to estimations of the survived camp detainees, around 2.500 civilians, men, children and the elderly were detained in the camp every day. They were brought in from different parts of BiH.

The roundtable held in Janja near Bijeljina yesterday was aimed at reminding the public of the occupation of Bijeljina 24 years ago, as well as of the establishing of the camp Batković – one of 657 camps established in BiH during the aggression.

More than one hundred detainees were killed in the camp Batković and a large number of them were killed in human shield or during the digging of trenches on the forward battle lines.

Although the most monstrous crimes were committed in this area at the very beginning of the aggression on BiH, so far only four criminals were sentenced to a total of 32 years in prison. The camp Batković was closed only after the signing of the Dayton Agreement.
