[wzslider autoplay=”true”]Current flag of B&H, blue with a yellow triangle and 9 stars, came into use at today’s day, the 4th of February 1998.
The godfather of the new flag was Carlos Westendorp, the Spanish diplomat who was the international High Representative in B&H from 1997 to 1999.
On the beginning of 1998 OHR established the so-called Westendorp committee for selection of the flag, emblem and anthem of B&H. Regarding the flag, they asked experts from the London Flag Institute for help. Commission came with three neutral proposals in January 1998, and since the Parliament could not decide on one of them, the High Representative, referring to the Bonn powers, made the final choice.
On the recommendation of experts from the London Institute, he changed the original proposed light shade of blue (the so called UN blue) with a darker shade of blue color of the EU flag.
Flag of B&H is consisted of dark blue field with a yellow isosceles rectangular triangle whose one arm is touching the top side of the flag. Nine white five-pointed star are lined up along the longest side of the triangle.
The triangle symbolizes the three constituent people of B&H, and stars are representing Europe.
