The price of the cryptocurrency bitcoin topped $100,000 late last night for the first time in history, and the cryptocurrency has increased by more than 30 percent since the US presidential election on November 5.

The value of the world’s largest cryptocurrency hovered around $68,000 on the eve of the election before reaching a then-record $75,000 the day after the election.

Donald Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris boosted investor sentiment and sent Bitcoin to new record highs.

Bitcoin reached $103,343 on Wednesday night.

During his campaign, Trump promised a pro-crypto regulatory approach, vowing to make the US the “crypto capital of the world” and announcing plans during a summer conference to establish a crypto advisory board.

Earlier yesterday, Trump selected cryptocurrency advocate Paul Atkins to lead the Securities and Exchange Commission, according to AA.
