Book “Establishment of Republika Srpska” promoted in BiH

The Bosniak Culture Association (BZK) “Preporod” city society of Goražde, in cooperation with the Ministry of Veteran Affairs and the Government of the Bosnian Podrinjska Canton (BPK) in Goražde, organized the promotion of the book “Establishment of Republika Srpska” co-authored by Muamer Džananović, Hikmet Karčić and Jasmin Medić.

In addition to the author of the book, the director of the Institute for Research of Crimes Against Humanity and International Law of the University of Sarajevo, prof. Ph.D. Rasim Muratović and employees of the Institute dr. Ermin Kuka and M.Sc. Almir Grabovica.

According to the author, the goal of this work was to process all the events that led to the proclamation of the Republika Srpska, and the work is the result of their many years of research, but also a scientific response to the increasingly frequent attempts to change historical facts and attempts to relativize and deny crimes.

According to Muamer Džananović, the book is structured in six chapters and written on the basis of primary archival material.

“The focus of the book is on 1991 and the first half of 1992, on what primarily officials, leaders of SDS did in the field. What is important is that in the first two chapters we analyze the continuity of Greater Serbia’s territorial claims towards Bosnia and Herzegovina and the transformation of the Yugoslav People’s Army. We wanted to show that January 9 did not come just like that, but was preceded by a sequence of significant decisions and events primarily during 1991, from the proclamation of the Serbian Autonomous Regions, the proclamation of the so-called “The Assemblies of the Serbian People” and the like,” specified Džananović, noting that the book ends with the public announcement of the strategic goals of the Serbian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. genocidal goals

It was emphasized how important the fight against the relativization of aggression and the denial of genocide is, and it was pointed out that this is a significant work of a scientific-documentary character that treats an extremely important time period in the contemporary history of BiH

“It is about the period of preparation, planning and organization of planned and thorough aggression against RBiH and the subsequent execution of those crimes, primarily against Bosniaks throughout the occupied towns and cities. On the basis of the relevant primary documentary material, the authors confirm and draw conclusions that it was really about the time when plans were worked out specifically in practice, the goal of which was the creation of the so-called “Greater Serbia” which will be cleansed of non-Serbian viewpoints,” said, among other things, Ermin Kuka, senior research associate of the Institute for Research of Crimes Against Humanity and International Law of the University of Sarajevo.

He added that the fact that it attracted the public’s attention even before its publication speaks of the value of the book. The promotion in Goražde also aroused great interest, and was organized as part of the “Days of Resistance in BPK” event.
