Umit, a dog who was brutally wounded by a gunshot in the town of Svodna between Novi Grad and Prijedor, underwent surgery at Dr. Bojan Lukač’s veterinary station in Prijedor.

He and a team of five colleagues performed an extremely difficult operation with their skills and knowledge. Umit is a beautiful mixed breed who suffered severe injuries to his lower jaw and soft tissues – head trauma.

With all our strength, knowledge and skills, we successfully completed the operation and invested every atom of our strength to save him, said Dr. Lukač.

In an interview with BHRT, he said that Umit suffered severe trauma to his lower jaw and suffered neurogenic shock.

“We expect the greatest fighter, Umit, to recover in the coming days. He must receive strong painkillers, antibiotics and all of that intravenously,” he explained to us.

He also said that he will remain critical for the next few days, but he and his team will do everything to prevent complications.

“Let the fight continue, let the inevitable happen. May such injuries never happen again and may this fight awaken good in people,” said the brave veterinarians.

The Novi Grad Police Department confirmed that an investigation into this case has been launched. According to “Spas – Animal Adoption Prijedor”, the police approached the situation seriously and professionally, and it is expected that the person responsible will be identified and brought to justice.

Let us recall that according to the posts on the “Spas – Animal Adoption” page, an unknown person shot a gun in Svodna and blew off the dog’s lower jaw, leaving it lying in blood, choking and falling apart from pain and fear. Thanks to the quick response of volunteers and veterinary assistance, Umut survived the first critical moments.
