Nine-year-old Nia Avdić climbed Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m), yesterday.
As Bosnian-Herzegovinian journalist and alpinist Zehrudin Isaković reported, Nia has become one of the youngest mountaineers in the world to achieve this feat.
“She felt well at the summit. She is currently with her parents on the way down to the lower camps. This success is not accidental, but the result of years of dedication to training and a passion for mountaineering. Nia has already seen the world from Triglav, Durmitor, Maglić, and Musala…,” he wrote.
He emphasized that the young climber comes from a family of athletes.
“Her mother, Naida, is one of the most successful Bosnian and Herzegovinian female alpinists. One of the highlights of her climbing career is the ascent of Ama Dablam. Her father, Aldin, is a well-known swimming coach whose school has already produced several national record holders,” he added, N1 writes.
