Brussels will allocate 40 million euros in humanitarian aid to Ukraine for the winter, the European Commission announced.
“This new support will strengthen Ukraine’s winter preparedness and protect civilians from extreme cold,” the statement said.
The Commission said the EU’s humanitarian partners will provide shelter, repair damaged houses and centres for displaced people, and improve access to water, sanitation and heating in Ukraine.
“The aid includes cash, solid fuels, heating appliances and insulation,” the statement explained.
